VIC-3D includes the ability to track discrete markers (circular or bow-tie format) in three dimensions. This feature provides considerable time savings compared to manual measurements. It also permits accurate measurements of movements toward or away from the stereo camera system. Marker tracking allows for 3D displacement data to be obtained at fiducial points where full-field speckling might not be possible.

Full-field measurements using a speckle pattern and discrete marker tracking may be obtained concurrently, and both data sets can be visualized in VIC-3D’s iris data visualization workspace.

Markers may also be ultilize for precise coordinate system alignment with external frames of reference in CAD or FE models. See it in action in the video to the right.
