Monochromatic Lighting Systems
White light or light of any wavelength or band of wavelengths are excellent lighting options, but there are cases where monochromatic lighting can improve image performance and reduce chromatic aberrations. Short wavelength monochromatic lighting, such as blue (455nm), results in better optical performance in diffraction-limited instances, such as with high resolution and/or high magnification applications. Blue lighting and filters are also required for ultra-high temperature testing.
Standard Light Kit - Blue
The custom-designed CSI LED light kit is now available in blue:
The CSI 1050 LED Light Kit is available in blue. This high-quality LED lighting system is very effective for low-speed applications that require monochromatic light, such as for high-temperature, high-magnification, or high-resolution imaging. It features two cool blue LED units each contained within a compact enclosure with multi-function positioning arms perfect for lighting objects in fairly tight places or through chamber windows. Each LED light offers a very diffuse illumination up to a diameter of approximately 36” and includes an interchangeable linear polarizer for additional reflection reduction. Blue lens filters should be applied when imaging high-temperature with this exceptional low-cost lighting system.
Blue - x- Focus
The Blue-X-Focus is a powerful LED light source custom designed for digital image correlation.
The Blue-X-Focus light is a new addition to the VIC product line. This custom-designed light source is extremely powerful and ideal for high-magnification applications, high-temperature applications, or when monochromatic light is required. The Blue-X-Focus comes standard with the Micro-DIC system, and effectively improves image quality over standard daylight LED systems. The lighting system is available with any VIC system or as a stand-alone lighting solution. Below are the features of this powerful accessory.
The pulse mode reduces motion blur and maximizes light power at the lowest possible heating of the object's surface
Large beam expansion range from 3.2° to 60° for small to large field of view. Operation through small windows
A polarization filter (optional) is suppressing direct reflections in combination with a second pair for the sensors
The short wavelength can be used in combination with bandpass filters for measuring hot samples
Power: Standard operation with 80 W in continuous mode or 120 W for pulse mode depending on duty cycle. Power is adjustable manually or externally by pulse length and frequency as well as automatically limited depending on temperature.
The focusing adapter for standard DIC is from 5° to 60° expansion. The version for small FOV is adjustable from 3.2° to 4.7° expansion corresponding to e. g. 5 mm x 3 mm at 53 mm WD or 300 mm x 140 mm at 1800 mm WD (working distance)
Mounting is possible horizontal or vertical via M6 or ¼” threads
The cooling air stream is directed from the front inlet to the backside to avoid hot airwaves in the images.
